Travel to Hirtshals harbour
The port of Hirtshals is centrally located. You can also get there in various ways: by car and by public transport. Hirtshals station (bus and train) is about a 10-minute walk from the Color Line terminal. The Fjord Line terminal is further out, about 35–40 minutes on foot; the nearest station there is Lilleheden.
- By car: you can easily drive to Hirtshals by following the E39 via Hjørring towards Hirtshals. Then take the exit to Hirtshals, after which you drive left towards the center. Eventually you turn right towards Havnegade, where you eventually end up at the harbour.
- By bus: Hirtshals Banegård bus station is within walking distance of the harbour. Travel via this station.
- By train: Hirtshals Train Station is a 10-minute walk from the harbour. Plan your train journey with this final destination. This can be done via www.rejseplanen.dk, among others.

Terminals on the harbour
Arriving at the port of Hirtshals there is clear signage towards the various terminals, from which crossings depart to the port of Kristiansand.

Travelling further north? Two other routes from Hirtshals
Kristiansand is the quickest crossing to southern Norway. If you are heading further into the country, a different arrival port can save you hours of driving.
- Hirtshals – Larvik (Color Line, 3 hrs 45 min): the best choice for Oslo and eastern Norway. Larvik is 135 km from Oslo, compared with over 300 km from Kristiansand. More at hirtshals-larvik.info
- Hirtshals – Bergen (Fjord Line, approx. 17.5 hrs, overnight via Stavanger): ideal for Bergen, Hardanger and the western fjords. You sleep on board and arrive in central Bergen at 13:00, which saves you a full day’s drive from Kristiansand. More at hirtshals-bergen.com
