Check-in with Color Line
Color Line expects all passengers, with and without a vehicle, at the terminal at least 60 minutes before departure. Allow extra time in summer and on busy weekends. By car you follow the signs in the port to the Color Line check-in; foot passengers check in inside the terminal building.
- Color Line Terminal Hirtshals: Norgeskajen 2, about 10 minutes’ walk from Hirtshals bus station
- Color Line Terminal Kristiansand: trains, buses and taxis 50 to 200 metres from the port; no parking at the terminal
Our tip: with only one or two Color Line sailings a day, missing check-in because of traffic can cost you a lot of time. If you have a long drive to Hirtshals, consider staying the night before at a hotel in Hirtshals and driving to the terminal in the morning.

The SuperSpeed 1 is built for the short crossing over the Skagerrak. On board you will find:

Important rules
- ID: bring a valid passport or ID card. Norway carries out ID checks on arrival.
- Age limit: Color Line applies an age limit of 16 for crossings without a parent or guardian, and higher limits for day trips.
- Car deck: access to the car deck is not allowed during the crossing and the doors are locked. Take what you need with you.
- Power: cars, motorhomes and caravans may not be connected to power on board, so you cannot charge an electric car.
Travelling with a dog or vehicle
